Mike Sexton, born September 22, 1947, is a professional poker player and commentator from Shelby, IN. Sexton attended Ohio State University where he was a gymnast and earned a degree in public recreation after switching from a business major. Sexton served as a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne Division in 1970, followed by a short career as a salesman, which he end when he realized he was making more playing poker. He has concentrated fulltime on poker since 1977.
Sexton is most visible as the host of the World Poker Tour. He has a founding role and works as a spokesperson for PartyPoker.com. He’s commonly referred to as the “ambassador of poker” for his contributions to poker and for raising the profile of the game.
Sexton earned a WSOP bracelet in 1989 at the 7-Card Stud Split event, has 46 WSOP final tables, and finished 12th in the WSOP Main Event in 2000. Hendon Mob lists $3.8 million in live tournament earnings for Sexton. Learn more about Mike Sexton
