Brunson, now 76, is the Babe Ruth, the Michael Jordan, and the Arnold Palmer of poker. He virtually invented the phenomenon that is Texas Hold'em. He paved the way for a sport once viewed to be played by only roughnecks and criminals, but is now played by today’s world leaders and top executives. He was the star of the infamous band of traveling poker sharks, the Texas Rounders. He was the first of the high stakes hotel poker players in Las Vegas introducing his “power poker” to the world. He has won an unprecedented and record ten World Series of Poker events, including the two back-to-back world championships. In addition, he is a best-selling author and in the world of professional poker, he is king. "Doyle learned early on in life, no matter what you’re dealt, anything can be turned into a winning hand. Raised dirt poor in rural Texas, he was a natural athlete who went to college on both a basketball and track scholarships. His NBA career with the then-Minneapolis Lakers ended before it began when he shattered his leg in an accident at the gypsum factory where he was working pre-season. Brian Hastings is a professional poker player and coach with the popular online training site CardRunners.com. Hastings is an economics and business major at Cornell University, in Ithaca, NY. Brian began playing poker during his junior year of high school with his friends and classmates. He began his online career the summer of 2005 playing under the name “Stinger885.”
Brian progressed from 10NL, beating small stakes cash games and multi-table tournaments. His bankroll continued to grow as he climbed the ladder to his current level, playing cash games ranging from $25/$50 and $50/$100 in addition to occasional high stakes sit-n-go’s and multi-table tournaments.
