Bill Robertie is a professional backgammon, chess, and poker player as well as an author from Arlington, MA. He attended Harvard College as an undergraduate where he became a chess master and saw the Harvard chess team win several titles. In 1970 he won the United States Championship for speed chess before switching to backgammon in 1976.
As a backgammon player he won the World Championship in Monte Carlo in 1983 and 1987, the Black and White Championship in 1979, as well as tournaments in Las Vegas (1980, 2001), Bahamas (1993) and Istanbul (World Open) in 1994.
He has written books on chess and some of the most well regarded backgammon books, including Advanced Backgammon and Modern Backgammon. Robertie has co-authored six poker books with Dan Harrington including the oft cited Harrington on Hold’em tournament book series and the more recent Harrington on Cash Games.
