Phill Hellmuth Jr, born July 16th, 1964, is a professional poker player from Madison, WI. Born July 16, 1964, Phil attended University of Wisconsin – Madison. It was in Madison that Phil was introduced to poker. He would later leave school to pursue the game fulltime.
Hellmuth made history in 1989 when he defeated two-time defending champion Johnny Chan to claim the WSOP Main Event title. In 2007, Phil claimed his 11th WSOP bracelet and set a new record. With 79 WSOP money finishes Hellmuth also holds the record for most WSOP cashes. Phil has 4 WPT final tables and 13 WPT cashes. His live tournament earnings exceed $17 million.
